About Gerard Thibault
Gerard Thibault is Chief Technical Officer (CTO) at Kao Data where he leads design strategy, working with the operations team led by Paul Finch, COO and Interim CEO.
As a key role, Gerard will oversee the bringing in to service and commissioning of the new Kao Data Campus in Harlow, ensuring that it meets stringent design specifications and exceeds all customer expectations. The new facility will launch with 8.8MW day one capacity.
Amongst his other duties at Kao Data, Gerard is also responsible for developing long-term sustainability goals. He works alongside Paul Finch, Interim CEO, Kao Data, to create innovative and cutting-edge design solutions which drive value into customer focused data centre products.
As CTO, Gerard Thibault draws on the 38 years of experience he has in the electrical and electronic engineering industry and more specifically the last 19 years in the data centre sector working at Global Crossing, CBRE and Digital Realty. He will continue to lead the development of company standards and innovative solutions for Kao Data.
Gerard joined Kao Data after an 11-year assignment at Digital Realty – one of the world’s largest Data Centre REITs. As Vice President of Design for the EMEA region, he had responsibility for the design and implementation of over 150MW of data centre space across 80 individual suites at 24 sites globally, including 15 new build projects in Europe.
Gerard is a Chartered Engineer, having graduated with an Honours Batchelor of Science degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering in 1986 and has supplemented his education with a range of wider building services engineering qualifications and experience including becoming an Uptime Institute Accredited Tier Designer (ATD) in 2010.
He holds a BSc (Hons) in Building Services Engineering from London South Bank University, PgDip in Engineering Management from Brunel University and has completed the General Management Programme at the University of Cambridge, Judge Business School.
