Data Centre - Security & Monitoring

Security is an increasingly critical factor for all data centre and colocation customers. Kao Data deploys military grade levels of physical security and monitoring across all campus facilities, providing maximum protection to customers infrastructure and data assets.

Starting with our low-risk location, the campus is physically protected by a multiple layered security system which provides a minimum 15-minute penetration delay at each layer - courtesy of multiple, varied challenge points. These include:

• Security personnel on-site 24/7/365
• Exterior 3m high ‘anti-climb’ campus perimeter fence
• Inner 3m high ‘anti-climb’ perimeter fence with tremble and motion detection monitoring
• CCTV surveillance throughout utilising high-column and building mounted pan–tilt–zoom (PTZ) cameras
• Supplementary background IR lighting for CCTV recording in low light and night-time conditions
• Exterior physical access controls including vehicle barriers, bi-folding speed gates and pedestrian turnstiles incorporating intercom and electronic access controls
• Secure ‘high security’ steel doors for all emergency exit doors and key maintenance and plant access doors
• Sensitive exterior doors additionally incorporate biometric access controls
• Main reception access point includes 24/7/365 manned security booth, authenticated single-flow mantrap entry, access cards, biometric verification and unique 4-digit PIN code access
• Interior monitoring across plant areas, MMR’s and Technology Suites including minimum 2-step security access control and biometric verification.

All visitors to the data centre are required to have identification verified in advance before entry is permitted.
