Kao Data COO, Paul Finch to Speak at ASHRAE Winter Conference
Paul Finch, COO at Kao Data, has been invited as a speaker to address a global audience of data center industry professionals at next week’s ASHRAE Winter Conference, being held in Atlanta, Georgia, USA.
Talking about the conference, Paul Finch says: “For years, ASHRAE TC9.9 has set the standard for maximizing the data centre operational environmental. I’m delighted to be part of a speaking team which is considered to be strong enough to be included in the conference program.”
On the platform alongside Dustin Demetriou of IBM and Mark Seymour of Future Facilities, Paul Finch will be exploring a range of topics including data center site selection, business decisions and the application of the Thermal Guidelines, which together facilitated Kao Data’s decision to enter the wholesale market and adopt a free cooling strategy.
“Having the opportunity to deliver a data center platform from scratch, Kao Data wanted to ensure the maximum efficiency and flexibility of the state-of-the-art facility for the benefit of our customers,” said Finch. “We were convinced that not only was 100 percent free cooling a viable option, but also that it could help reduce the environmental impact of data center computing whilst offering lower cost of operations.”
A case study, together with supporting documentation will demonstrate that through innovative application, Kao Data has evidenced availability and reliability can be complementary to energy-efficiency and sustainability whilst reducing short-term CAPEX, longer-term OPEX, the overall Total Cost Operations (TCO) positioning the broader business for higher Funds from Operations (FFO).
The Winter Conference Technical Program along with Committee meetings, Registration, the Bookstore and Speakers Lounge will be at the Omni CNN Center and the Georgia World Congress Center. The AHR Expo will take place at the Georgia World Congress Center, Monday, Jan. 14 – Wednesday, Jan. 16.
ASHRAE was formed as the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers by the merger in 1959 of American Society of Heating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHAE) founded in 1894 and The American Society of Refrigerating Engineers (ASRE) founded in 1904.
