Paul Finch is Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Board Director at Kao Data, responsible for strategic operations and platform delivery.
To date, he has enjoyed a very accomplished career delivering solutions for customers with a reliance on mission critical facilities, data centres and complex building infrastructure, supporting business performance and resilience, with over 10 years operating at a senior management level.
Prior to joining Kao Data, Paul was Senior Director at Digital Realty (NYSE: DLR) providing technical thought leadership in data centre product innovation, global design and engineering standards and execution of the data centre development strategy from land acquisition, through design, construction, commissioning and operations, across EMEA and including DLR’s entry into the APAC markets.
He joined DLR from CBRE (NYSE:CBG), where he was a Director leading the London engineering consultancy and technical advisory business unit delivering projects and working with customers across the banking and financial services, oil and gas, technology, media, telecommunications and internet sectors.
Prior to that, Paul had many years’ industry experience progressing to become consulting engineer and project manager for various design engineering and project management practices in the construction sector.
Paul has been engaged at a policy level representing the data centre industry having made formal representation in both the US and EU on future data centre policy, standards and legislation.
His many credentials include: Chartered Engineer (CEng) registered with the UK Engineering Council, Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (FIMechE), Member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air-conditioning Engineers (MASHRAE) and an active Voting Executive Committee Member of ASHRAE Technical Committee 9.9 (TC9.9) – Mission Critical Facilities, Data Centres, Technology Spaces and Electronic Equipment.
Paul holds a BSc (Hons) in Building Services Engineering from London South Bank University, PgDip in Engineering Management from Brunel University and has completed the General Management Programme at the University of Cambridge, Judge Business School.
