Arc is a Stockport-based arts and mental health organisation that helps individuals recovering from mental health challenges through creativity. Their Creative Enterprise programme, launched in 2022, supports participants by developing their creative skills and preparing them for work or education. Participants create and sell products in Arc’s shop, while gaining confidence and independence. The programme has enabled many to start creative businesses or move into new careers, providing both personal development and community support.
The Creative Enterprise Artist Development Project will offer CPD sessions covering key aspects of running a creative business, including guidance on pricing, branding, marketing, and self-employment, alongside personalised mentoring. Participants will also have the opportunity to sell their work at a supportive Makers Market, gaining valuable professional experience.
The Creative Enterprise Artist Development Project will support 14 participants from Arc’s Creative Enterprise programme, who are on their journey to recovery from mental health challenges. These individuals aspire to develop their artistic practice and build the confidence and skills needed to establish their own creative enterprises or return to work/volunteering.
The project will enhance participants' confidence, creativity, and business skills, empowering them to become more independent. By providing training and mentoring, it will support them in developing their creative practices and gaining the knowledge needed to set up their own enterprises or return to work or volunteering. The impact will be measured through both personal development and tangible outcomes, such as starting a business or transitioning into employment.
