Forward
Forward was created to support the local LGBTQ+ community, addressing gaps in care and connection. Offering a range of wellbeing activities and events (such as discussion groups, yoga, and financial wellbeing sessions). Forward combats social isolation and fosters a supportive, inclusive environment. Partnering with local organisations, they work to improve healthcare access, raise awareness of discrimination, and reduce hate crimes. With ongoing community impact, Forward has made a significant difference in the lives of many LGBTQ+ individuals across Stockport - contributing to improved mental health, confidence, and social connections.
What will the Kao SEED Fund support?
The Kao Seed Fund will support "Fabulously Me," an event celebrating the 5th anniversary of Forward CIC, to be held at Edgely Park (home of Stockport County FC). This ball will provide a safe, inclusive space for the LGBTQ+ community to experience a long-awaited rite of passage, offering a prom-like experience where they can be their true selves. The event aims to foster community empowerment through unconditional support and inclusivity, while also celebrating Forward’s achievements and the volunteers who have contributed to its success. By bringing together people from all walks of life, it will encourage engagement with wellbeing activities and help strengthen connections within the community.
