PIE: Pursuing Individual Excellence is an educational social enterprise established in 2017, supporting women and young people across the North of England. PIE runs programmes in schools and community projects to develop skills in communication, digital literacy, project management, and community engagement. They collaborate with the local councils, schools, and charities to ensure broader support. Key initiatives include leading the Stockport Youth Alliance, supporting care leavers, and running social action projects and wellbeing programmes for young people.
The Kao SEED Fund will help expand the L!STEN Youth Alliance's social action project, enabling 12 young people to lead initiatives based on data gathered from monthly surveys on key issues, such as climate change. They will receive coaching in skills like confidence, goal-setting, and social action, which will empower them to create meaningful change. Their work will be shared with local schools and community leaders to ensure their voices and impact are recognised.
This project is for 12 diverse young people, aged 12-18, from various cultural backgrounds, including SEND and LGBTQ+ communities. It will help them develop essential skills such as project management, teamwork, and digital literacy. The project's impact will extend to over 1,000 Stockport residents, inspiring positive change within the community.
The L!STEN social action campaign will be shared across Stockport, reaching youth networks, schools, and council staff. Success will be measured through social media engagement, feedback from participants, and follow-up surveys to assess awareness among young people. The initiative hopes to foster empowerment, skill development, and demonstrate that young people's voices are being heard and acted upon in their community.
