RCT Group Stockport, founded in 2022, provides a safe space for families in the SK1, SK2, and SK3 areas. The group offers activities for both children and adults, aiming to build a sense of community and support families facing isolation, trauma, and financial challenges. Volunteer-led, it has grown from serving seven families to 42, helping families connect, share experiences, and overcome difficulties.
The Kao SEED Fund will help RCT to establish The Young Futures Initiative which will empower underprivileged young people and their families in Stockport by providing skill-building workshops and community engagement programs. The project will offer workshops in creative arts, digital literacy, and eco-friendly gardening, alongside community activities such as neighbourhood clean-ups and intergenerational storytelling. The initiative aims to boost personal development, community collaboration, and environmental awareness, creating lasting positive change and a brighter future for local families.
The RCT Young Futures Initiative will directly benefit approximately 50 young people and their families from underprivileged backgrounds in Stockport. The project will provide these youths with opportunities for personal growth, skill development, and meaningful community engagement, ultimately improving their lives and building a more connected, resilient community.
Success will be tracked through surveys, feedback forms, and event attendance, with positive changes in participants' skills across the following development areas:
Skill Development: Participants will gain skills in through hands-on projects.
Community Engagement: Increased participation in events will strengthen community bonds.
Digital Literacy: Participants will improve their digital skills, including coding, for educational activities.
