Siyanda Development Trust supports global majority communities in Stockport, addressing mental health, drug, and alcohol challenges. Formed in 2015, it offers a safe, inclusive space to tackle social isolation and improve wellbeing, helping people connect, share, and access support they may not otherwise reach.
The funding will enable the delivery of Live Life To The Full and Reclaim Your Life courses, based on CBT approaches, and designed to address everyday challenges and long-term health conditions. Additionally, the Trust will offer alcohol and drug awareness sessions tailored to global majority and diverse communities. This project aims to empower individuals with the knowledge and skills to support their own and others' mental health, in alignment with the Greater Manchester and One Stockport Mental Health strategies.
The project will primarily benefit individuals from global majority communities, with an inclusive approach welcoming other diverse groups. It will particularly support women, who often face social isolation and are key family carers, empowering them with knowledge to better support their families. At least 50 individuals will participate in the Live Life To The Full or Reclaim Your Life courses, and another 50 individuals, including women, men, and young people will attend the Drugs and Alcohol Awareness sessions.
