Paul Finch Steps Down as Chief Technical Officer, and Becomes a Senior Advisor to the Board

London, United Kingdom, 9th October 2025 — Kao Data, the specialist developer and operator of data centres engineered for AI and advanced computing, has announced that after a decade of service, Paul Finch, the company’s long standing Chief Technical Officer (CTO), will step down from his role to pursue new opportunities, while continuing to support the Board in a new capacity as a Senior Advisor.

As the company begins to undertake the next stages of its data centre platform developments across the UK, Paul’s design and construction responsibilities will transition to the company’s Chief Operating Officer (COO), Pete Judson, who’s role and team will expand to oversee Kao Data’s award-winning design, construction and operations teams.

An industry veteran, Paul was instrumental in shaping Kao Data’s engineering, design, operational and construction strategies, holding several roles as Interim CEO, COO and CTO. He also played a key role in growing the organisation - building the infrastructure to support new customers across the Cloud Computing, AI, HPC, Life Science, and Financial Services sectors - and was central to the company becoming an acclaimed leader in high-performance data centres, precision-engineered to deliver the highest standards of operation and sustainability.

Speaking about his time at Kao Data, Paul Finch, said, “From our earliest moments, the founding investors asked me to embrace their vision - building on the legacy of Sir Charles Kao OBE, by creating an advanced infrastructure platform, serving an enviable and diverse, blue-chip customer portfolio. Our achievements together during the last ten years were made possible by the trust and accountability of our shareholder consortium - Goldacre, the Noe Group, Legal & General and Infratil - and the talented, dedicated professionals and friends who joined me on this journey, for whom I will always be grateful and wish continued success.”

David Bloom, Founder and Executive Chairman, said about the transition: “On behalf of Kao Data I would like to express our utmost thanks and gratitude to Paul, who has played a fundamental role in shaping Kao Data into one of the UK’s most respected data centre platforms. From its earliest days, Paul brought exceptional clarity of vision, engineering excellence, and calm leadership to a complex and ambitious undertaking.

I’d like to thank Paul for his dedication, integrity, and unwavering commitment to our mission, which have been exemplary. While we will miss his day-to-day participation, we look forward to his continued involvement as Senior Advisor to the Board.”

Together with the recent confirmation of Clinton Hasell as Kao Data’s new Chief Business Officer, Pete Judson’s transition to head-up design and construction ensures seamless alignment across all aspects of Kao Data’s development, build, and operational teams - building on the robust organisational structure created by David Bloom and the Board, and underpinning Kao Data’s strategy to deliver several new data centre projects for its customers.
