Harlow Art Trust cares for Harlow’s renowned public sculpture collection, manages the Gibberd Gallery and presents exhibitions and creative events that make art accessible to all. The organisation is committed to environmentally responsible practice and to widening participation in the arts across Harlow’s communities.
The funding will expand the Cycle, Create & Move (CCM) initiative through a new training programme for at least four artists. It will cover artist training, mentoring, cycling accreditation and materials so trainees can co-deliver outdoor, cargo‑bike‑based creative workshops for local families in spring and summer 2026.
The programme supports early‑career and community‑focused artists in Essex and East Herts, building skills in outdoor, participatory arts and sustainable practice. It also benefits local families with least access to creativity through free CCM workshops, delivered with partners such as Changing Lives, Active Essex, Roots to Wellbeing and community organisations across Harlow neighbourhoods.
The project aims to grow a skilled artist pool able to run regular CCM workshops, increasing creative opportunities and positive use of public spaces. Success will be evidenced by trained artists progressing into paid work, more family workshops in priority areas, and continued contribution to reductions in crime and anti‑social behaviour reported around CCM activity locations.
