Kao Data Promotes Gavin Fernandez to Vice President of Design & Construction

London, United Kingdom, Wednesday 13th May, 2026Kao Data, the specialist developer and operator of data centres engineered for AI and advanced computing, has announced the promotion of Gavin Fernandez to Vice President of Design and Construction.

In his expanded role, Gavin will oversee the full design, development and construction lifecycle of mission-critical data centre projects at Kao Data. His remit spans the construction of technical space and the supporting infrastructure that underpins it, with accountability for ensuring every element meets the highest standards of technical and engineering excellence.

In line with Kao Data’s customer-centric approach, a central priority in Gavin’s role is maintaining a relentless focus on the end-user. Gavin and his wider team will ensure that all technology deployments brought online on behalf of customers are technically robust while remaining closely aligned with their expectations and evolving requirements. This mindset has been a hallmark of his work to-date and will remain central as he steps into a broader, strategic leadership position.

Gavin’s promotion also comes at a time of significant change within the industry, driven largely by the rapid evolution of artificial intelligence (AI). The pace at which GPU-accelerated AI infrastructure is advancing means customer requirements are constantly shifting, often demanding faster deployment times, greater rack and power densities, bespoke cooling regimes encompassing air and liquid cooling, and highly-scalable technical space.

Gavin Fernandez, Vice President of Design & Construction at Kao Data, said: “I am delighted to take on this exciting and expanded role within the company, and I do so while also representing and recognising a wider team of truly exceptional colleagues. Together, I’m proud we have created a collaborative environment that delivers both results and customer spaces that are perfectly aligned to their needs and operational timescales.”

Spencer Lamb, MD and CCO at Kao Data, commented: “Since joining the business, Gavin has played a pivotal role in shaping our approach to data centre delivery, consistently demonstrating strong leadership, commercial awareness, and a deep understanding of customer needs. This promotion not only reflects Gavin’s individual achievements but his commitment to building strong teams and delivering excellence in a complex and fast-moving industry. We are confident that under his leadership, our Design and Construction function will continue to evolve, ensuring we remain at the forefront of delivering high-quality, AI-ready and customer-focused data centre solutions.”

Gavin begins his new position with immediate effect and will continue to lead Kao Data’s dedicated design and construction functions.
